A British Bangladeshi Muslim girl who grew up in East London and always felt the silenced voices in the urban neighborhoods. From adolescence I had a passion and drove to bring change and help people in bringing back happiness in their lives, therefore, I started working with charities and provided crisis support to victims of domestic violence, trauma, and addiction. In 2015 I became I qualified therapist along with charity work and continued training in couples therapy and trauma work.
Nevertheless, I wanted to benefit everyone in need around the globe. So, in 2019 I started creating content that people could learn from and get the motivation to bring positive change in their lives. After gaining digital recognition I was offered to be on Islam Channel, British Muslim TV, and various Podcasts. Enjoyed various opportunities to collaborate with various service providers and also participated in TikTok’s Mental Health Week.
I realized that I wanted to do more in life and didn’t want to stick in my comfort zone, thus, I started Healing the mind in 2018, but still felt I couldn’t give it the time it needed. I quit my job in 2020 and focused on my clinic. I took a huge leap of faith but due to the lack of South Asian & POC therapists in the field and the Pandemic, I almost felt I could hear the cry for help from the community. The business started growing drastically and we have now started expanding our team to fulfill the requirements. It has taken a lot of hard work to be where I am in life and I aim to continue this journey with the same dedication. Unfortunately, mental health is still not being brought into account as the other health issues and the stigma around needing help with mental health still exists. We fail to understand that people from different cultural backgrounds have experienced different circumstances in their lives and realities which influence the type of mental health issues that they may experience and their perception of psychotherapy. I, therefore, would continue my mission to raise awareness on this sensitive matter to amplify the voices that are being unheard and to enlighten those who are living in the darkness.
